How to Get Started

Welcome to the Wasteland! To begin your adventure, click the “Get Started” button on the homepage. This will open the Explore page in a new window, where your journey begins.

Before you dive in, take a moment to set up your Play Journal. You’ll need:

• A pencil

• Paper

• A six-sided die (d6)
  
  

Setting Up Your Resource Tracker

In your journal, create a Resource Tracker to monitor the items and abilities you’ll use throughout the game. Record the following categories and start each at 5:

Whenever you gain or lose items or stats, update your tracker accordingly.

[Alternate start: Instead of setting resources to 5 players may pick a starting class from the Classes page]

Creating Your Map

On a separate page in your journal, set up a Map. Draw a small circle in the center and label it “Home" or "H" for short.

• Each time you explore, draw a new circle for the location you visit and write the page name inside it. Each page includes a shorthand reference for ease.

• Use a marker to indicate your current location.

• When you first arrive at a new location, roll a die and follow the chart, record this rolled number in your map legend to keep track of your results.

• You may revisit locations by backtracking on your map, Do not roll a die on consecutive visits. However the location’s special effect is automatically activated every time you visit.

• If you’re looking for a specific location, click the “Cheat Sheet” in the navigation bar to see all pages and quickly select your destination.

[Alternate D20 Rule] Instead of clicking the "Explore" button, players can roll a physical twenty sided die (d20) and pick the location numbered on the cheat sheet.

Exploring

When you’re ready, click the “Explore” button to be taken to a random page in the wasteland. Each new page represents a challenge, encounter, or opportunity. Keep your journal updated as you go!

Death

If you are ever required to pay a cost you cannot afford, you die and the game is over! Make a new character, wipe the map, and start again!

Multiplayer Options

• Meet up with friends: Travel together and combine journals.
  
  

• Compete: Enter another player’s journal and take on their challenges.
  
  

• Team up: Collaborate with friends to survive the wasteland.
  
  

The Goal

The game continues until your character dies. How long can you survive in the wasteland?

Have fun, explore boldly, and may your journal be your guide!

And maybe... just maybe, there is a way to escape this wasteland if you look hard enough...
